Tear-down next? Demolition hold on Chicago Reagan home lifted by city

Reagan home one month ago

The end is probably near for the only Chicago home of Ronald Reagan. Last week the City of Chicago's Housing and Economic Development removed from its demolition hold list the six-flat apartment at 832 E. 57th Street where "Dutch" and his family lived in 1915.

Ronald Reagan was the first president to live in Chicago and he's the only president who was born and raised in Illinois.

Is there hope? Well, as long as the Reagan home is still standing, there certainly is. According to neighborhood sources, the tear-down has not yet started. Let's convince the University of Chicago, which owns the home, to save it, add it to Illinois' Ronald Reagan Trail, and turn it into a museum.
