Leftist politics have ruined many cities but none so much as Detroit. So it's fitting that Occupy the Midwest will be held in the former Motor City later this month.

Ninety years ago Detroit was as cutting edge as Silicon Valley. Seventy years ago it was the Arsenal of Democracy. Now it's renown comes from its many abandoned neighborhoods and its grinding poverty. But there is some good news: the new open space has brought agriculture back to Detroit.

Enjoy Detroit, occupiers. Stick around for a while, you may grow to like it. Land and housing are cheap there.
