Report on the bloggers' conference call with John Thune on the 2-year ObamaCare anniversary

John Thune
Tomorrow will be the second anniversary of the enacting of the unpopular ObamaCare bill--which the White House isn't even celebrating.

Sen. John Thune (R-SD) isn't celebrating either, but he marked the anniversary by taking time out of his schedule--after voting on the JOBS Act--to participate in a bloggers' conference call.

What is ObamaCare accomplishing two years later? "It is making things worse," Thune asserted, "it is making things worse for people who have to buy health insurance, and the cost of coverage continues to go up. It's suggested that the premiums are going to increase on families by about $2,100 per year."

One of Obama's selling tools as a candidate in 2008 was that his health care plan would lower health care premiums by $2,500 per family

Health insurance on the job is going up too--which is compelling businesses to hire fewer workers, Thune added.

That's not all, Thune said. ObamaCare raids Medicare, it forces people off of plans they are on, and it is making health care more expensive.

"The law really does represent one broken promise after another," he summarized.

Thune favors the repeal of ObamaCare--of course that is if it isn't ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court first.

ObamaCare supporters, Thune reminded us, vowed that the bill would create four million jobs--400,000 immediately upon passage, then-Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi claimed. But the reality is harsh, the Congressional Budget Office director, Douglas Elmendorf, testified recently that ObamaCare will cost 800,000 jobs. It will certainly cost even more jobs, particularly those belonging to lower-skilled workers, the senator added.

Now we know why the White House isn't having a birthday party.
