The Everly Brothers: On the Wings of a Nightingale

True rock legends, the Everly Brothers were a major artistic and commercial force in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Their influence on the Beatles was profound--the harmonies of "Please Please Me," "From Me to You," and "There's a Place" didn't come out of nowhere.

The Everlys broke up in the 1970s, but Phil and Don got back together for a well-received reunion concert in London in 1983 which was released as a live album. The following year the Everlys recorded their first studio album, EB84, in years, which was produced by a favorite of this blog, Dave Edmunds.

"On the Wings of a Nightingale," written by Paul McCartney, was a minor hit for the duo and it comes from that album. It deserved better.
