Barbour on Obama administration’s energy policy: ‘Expect to be disappointed’

Earlier today I included a Tweet from Governor Haley Barbour of Mississippi in my post about President Obama's misguided energy policy.

Late this afternoon the Republican issued a traditional press release about Obama's press conference in which energy was discussed.

President Obama called today for a comprehensive energy strategy for the country. This is something Americans wish he would have thought of two years ago. Let's hope the goal of that strategy is "more American energy": more domestic oil and gas production, more coal production and clean coal technology, more nuclear power, as well as more economic alternatives and renewables along with conservation and efficiency. If past performance is any guide, expect to be disappointed.

The president said, "We are encouraging offshore drilling and production." Shutting down production in the Gulf is a strange way of encouraging offshore drilling and production. The president's energy policies drive up the cost of energy and reduce the amount of American energy available to our people and our economy. Now is the time to change the administration's policies and increase supply in order to reduce prices and promote energy security.
